Training Bears to Improve Welfare

This badge signifies completion of the course Training Bears to Improve Animal Welfare. This course looks at many examples of training bears to participate in day-to-day care, preventative care, cooperative in medical procedures, and how to address some behavior problems commonly encountered when working with bears. It also looks at how training can facilitate data collection for conservation and also wildlife rehabilitation. This is a nice introduction to what is possible and what to expect when working with bears, especially for those new to this taxonomic group.
