This badge signifies completion of the course The Impact of Weight Distribution on Animal Training
We had another great discussion in this week’s livestream as well as many video examples of practical application. The examples showed that often precision in animal training relies upon responding to a shift in weight distribution as it happens in order to reinforce the desired behavior. This can be seen in everything from training quick response to the cue for a bird flying to the hand, teaching a giraffe to take steps sideways to present its hip, or training a big cat to hold for duration in a down position. Paying attention to weight distribution can also help us see where behaviors may break down or may not meet our desired criteria, for example when holding position for hoof trims that require balancing on three legs. In such situations we can plan to provide for comfort to facilitate success. Once again our topic turned out to be really fascinating!
This course takes approximately 1 hour to complete.
